Call for Board of Directors nominations
As a member, you are a part-owner of SCU. Making a nomination for our Board of Directors is one way you can have a say in how our credit union operates. If you would like to make a nomination, read our qualifications below, then fill out the contact form.
The deadline to complete your application is August 15, 2025.
Board of Directors qualifications
The length of one term for a director is three years. In compliance with our bylaws, you must meet the following qualifications to be a candidate for our Board of Directors:
- Be bondable
- Have a positive credit rating
- Be a current member of SCU in good standing for a minimum of three years
- Not be employed by, or be a director of, a competing financial institution
- Not be in violation of the credit union’s policies or bylaws
- Be a Canadian citizen or a person who has been lawfully admitted into Canada for permanent residence
- Not be a spouse or immediate relative (parent, sibling, child, spouse, grandparent) of an employee or director of the credit union
- Be able to fulfill all requirements established by our Nomination Committee
- Where an individual is a director, officer or has controlling interest in a major supplier of a competing financial institution or has strategic business importance to the credit union, that individual will not be qualified to serve as a director.
When evaluating submissions, our nomination committee seeks to recruit individuals with the expertise and skills needed for our Board of Directors, while recognizing the need for diverse voices to represent the communities we serve.
