Start by choosing the products that best meet your goals:

• Personal Chequing (Standard Pack, E-Pack, Value Pack, or Classic Pack)
• High Interest Savings Account (HISA)
• Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC)
• Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) variable or GIC
• Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) variable or GIC
• e-Loan

To open an account online, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Are a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident
• Have a valid email address

• Follow the guided process to complete your application
• Contact us at any time for support or with questions

A few things to keep in mind: 

• Have your documents handy. These include:
  • Social Insurance Number*
  • A valid government issued photo identification (drivers’ license or passport); a utility bill, credit card, or bank statement from a Canadian financial institution
  • An image of a void cheque may be required for some product types
• It usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes to submit your application. You can come back at any time to complete the application, just be sure to take note of your application ID so you can refer to it when you are ready to continue.

*If you hold a temporary Social Insurance Number (number starts with a 9), such as one that is used for a work permit, please visit us in-branch to open an account and become a member of SCU.
