SCU and community come together to Share the Light and lift local charities
The annual Share the Light campaign awards two charities with $3,500 each
STEINBACH, MB, December 12, 2025: Eight years ago, Steinbach Credit Union (SCU) launched the Share the Light initiative with a simple idea: ask the community to share where help is needed most by nominating charities to receive financial support. This year, that generosity continued with more than 800 nominations for local charities in Winnipeg, Steinbach, and surrounding areas.
SCU has once again brought the community together through its annual Share the Light campaign, awarding $3,500 each to two local charities: Steinbach Community Outreach and The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg.
“At SCU, we believe strong communities are built through care, collaboration, and many small acts of support,” said Curtis Wennberg, CEO of SCU. “Share the Light reflects that spirit. Each nomination reminds us of the compassion in our communities, and we are honoured to support organizations making a daily impact.”
This year, the Share the Light campaign took place from November 12 to December 1, 2025. During this period, SCU encouraged community participation through Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Cheques were presented at the winning charity locations on December 10 and 11, 2025.

Supporting our communities
Share the Light invites community members to nominate local charities for financial support. Since 2017, the program has donated over $60,000 to organizations in Manitoba. The initiative is part of SCU’s broader commitment to supporting communities where we live and work—highlighting organizations that uplift others, strengthening local support systems, and increasing collective impact.
As one of the cornerstones of our organization, SCU’s culture drives us to go above and beyond for our members and one another. Each year, SCU supports community well-being through financial education, scholarships, volunteerism, and initiatives that foster community and economic development. Through partnerships, sponsorships, and the SCU Charity Committee, we continue to build on almost 85 years of commitment to the people and places we call home.
