SCU supports Manitoba Wildfire Relief

Together we can. Supporting communities where we live and work.

As wildfires in Manitoba continue to spread and affect our communities, we want to acknowledge how this is impacting both our employees and our members.

We believe in supporting the communities where we live and work—and beyond. While Manitobans everywhere are feeling the effects of the continued wildfires reaching across our province, like many of you, we have been looking for ways we can lend our support.

Donations to support Manitoba Wildfire Relief

The Canadian Red Cross has set up a fund to collect donations in a secure portal in support of Manitoba Wildfire Relief*. Additionally, the Governments of Canada and Manitoba have announced they will match any donations to the 2025 Manitoba Wildfires Appeal made between May 28 to June 27, 2025. That means for every $1 donated, $3 will go to support those most affected by the wildfires.

What we’re doing to help

As part of the SCU community, we’re taking the first step by donating $25,000 to the Canadian Red Cross 2025 Manitoba Wildfires Appeal. Thanks to the matching government funds, the impact of this donation is $75,000!

While we continue to monitor the situation and consider other ways we may get involved in helping those affected by the Manitoba wildfires, we’re encouraging our employees and members, if they’re able, to join us in donating to the Canadian Red Cross fund.

You, too, can get involved!

This is a time for us to come together and support all of those who have or will be impacted. If you’re looking for a secure way to donate money to the cause, we recommend that you consider the Canadian Red Cross 2025 Manitoba Wildfires Appeal. And, if you’re able to donate prior to June 27, 2025, your donation will be tripled!

Together we can make a difference.

*Donations made to the Canadian Red Cross at this link will be used for assisting those impacted by the wildfires in Manitoba with immediate and ongoing relief including financial assistance, support to evacuees and the communities hosting them, recovery and resilience efforts in response to the wildfires, as well as supporting community preparedness and risk reduction for future all-hazard disaster events within Manitoba.
