What is the $300 Direct Deposit offer?
This is a limited-time offer that lets you earn a $300 cash reward and enjoy no monthly chequing fees for 12 months when you switch an eligible recurring direct deposit to an SCU chequing account during the offer period.
Who is eligible for this offer?
This offer is open to new and existing SCU consumer members who don’t currently have an SCU account with a recurring direct deposit (includes both single and joint accounts).
How does this offer work with joint accounts?
Each member is eligible for only one (1) offer. If a member who has not previously received the offer, sets up an eligible direct deposit into a joint account that did not have direct deposit before the offer period, the joint account can receive 12 months of waived monthly chequing fees.
The $300 cash reward will be paid only to the member who set up the eligible direct deposit. An additional direct deposit to the same joint account by another member will not qualify for additional cash rewards.

What do I need to do to receive the $300 cash reward?
To qualify for the $300 cash reward, you must switch an eligible direct deposit of at least $500 per month to an SCU chequing account and maintain that direct deposit until January 4, 2027.
What types of income count as an eligible direct deposit?
Eligible direct deposits include employer payroll, pension income, government income, and other recurring income coded as payroll or benefits. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for the full list of eligible direct deposits.
How much can I save with the waived monthly chequing account fees?
You can save up to $204 in monthly chequing fees over 12 months. Combined with the $300 cash reward, that’s up to $504 in total value.
When will I receive my $300 cash reward?
If you qualify for the offer, your $300 cash reward will be deposited into your chequing account by January 15th, 2027.
Do I need to open a specific chequing account to qualify?
No. You can hold any SCU chequing account to qualify. Within one week of SCU receiving your first eligible direct deposit, your account will be switched to a Promotional Classic Chequing account for 12 months.
What if I already have a no annual fee chequing account?
You may still qualify for the $300 cash reward by switching an eligible direct deposit to SCU.
What happens after my 12 months of waived chequing fees end?
After the 12-month promotional period ends, your account will move from the Promotional Classic Chequing Account to a chequing account where monthly fees will apply.
What if I miss a paycheque or change jobs?
You may still qualify, as long as your new eligible direct deposit is received by SCU during the offer period (ends June 27, 2026) and remains active until January 4, 2027.
Why don’t existing direct deposit members qualify for this offer?
This offer is designed to encourage new and existing SCU members who don’t currently have direct deposit with SCU to switch an eligible direct deposit to us during the offer period. Members who already have direct deposit with SCU are not eligible for this offer, but they may be eligible for other offers.
How do I switch my direct deposit to SCU?
You can download a void cheque through online or mobile banking and share it with your employer or income provider. You can also visit a branch, and our staff can help you access a void cheque to share with your employer or income provider.
Can I split my payroll between SCU and another financial institution?
No. To qualify, 100% of your eligible direct deposit must be deposited to SCU.
Can I qualify with multiple direct deposits?
Only one eligible recurring direct deposit is required, but it must meet the minimum of $500 per month.
Does this offer apply to business members?
No. This offer is available to consumer members only.
Can existing members without direct deposit still qualify?
Yes. Existing members can qualify by switching a new eligible direct deposit to SCU during the offer period.
Are any fees still charged during the waived monthly chequing fee period?
Yes. Monthly package fees are waived, but standard service fees still apply if you exceed the monthly transaction limits.
