Terms and Conditions

General Terms

1. Steinbach Credit Union Limited (“SCU”) is offering a reward of $50 cash per referral to new and existing SCU personal members (each, a “Member”) who, between July 2, 2026 to December 31, 2026, make a referral (each, a “Referral”) which results in the referred person becoming a new member of SCU (the “Promotion”). Eligibility for and payment of the reward is subject to these Terms and Conditions.

Reward Conditions

2. To be eligible for a reward of $50 cash per referral (the “Reward”), the Member must:

   1. be a resident of Canada (excluding residents of Québec), at all times during the Referral Period (as that term is defined below);

   2. be of the age of majority in the province or territory in which they reside, at the time the Referral is made;

   3. not be a Member of SCU in a capacity as an executor of an estate or personal representative, trustee or power of attorney, in respect of their participation in the Promotion; and

   4. strictly comply with all other provisions of these Terms and Conditions, for the duration of the Referral Period.

3. All other terms and conditions of other applicable agreements between the Member and SCU continue to apply.

4. Referrals must be made and meet all successful Referral conditions between July 2, 2026 at 9:30 A.M. CDT to December 31, 2026 at 5:00 P.M. CST (the “Referral Period”), after which time the Promotion will be closed and further Referrals will be ineligible for a Reward.

5. Members otherwise eligible pursuant to these Terms and Conditions must qualify for Rewards by complying with the following process:

   1. register with SCU through a registration webpage or such other methods as SCU may establish from time to time to become a referrer, and receive a unique referral code via email (each, a “Code”), which will be used by SCU to identify the Member and to track their Referrals. The Code may not be shared with or used by any other person to make a Referral;

   2. Members must use the Code to submit to SCU Referrals of people who, at the time of the Referral submission, are not and have not previously been members of SCU within the last 5 years (each, a “New Member”);

   3. Referrals will be provided through an online portal made available by SCU for this Promotion, or such other methods as SCU may direct in writing from time to time. Any Referrals which are not made via this method are ineligible for a Reward. Receipt of the Referral occurs when SCU’s server records the Referral information. Referrals must be submitted and recorded by SCU prior to the referred individual initiating the process to become a member of SCU. Referrals submitted after a referred individual has initiated or completed a membership application or account opening process are not eligible for a Reward. If the identity of a Member is disputed, the Referral will be deemed to have been submitted by the individual assigned to the email address entered at the time of the Referral. Each Member may be required to provide proof of their identity, in connection with a Referral;

   4. to be valid, the Referral must contain the New Member’s name and contact information, a message to the New Member from the Member and such other information as SCU may request, for that purpose;

   5. the New Member who is the subject of the Referral may then be contacted by SCU using the information provided by the Member, which contact shall include the name of the Member who made the Referral, the Member’s message to the New Member and an invitation to open a membership and account and do all things necessary to become a member of SCU;

   6. If a New Member opens a membership with SCU, the referring Member will be entitled to a Reward in respect of the successful Referral, subject to the following additional conditions which must be satisfied during the Referral Period to trigger a Reward:

      1. the New Member must otherwise do all things necessary to become a member of SCU, including, without limitation, meeting applicable membership criteria and funding a member share in the then-applicable amount; and

      2. within sixty (60) days after becoming a member of SCU, the New Member must: (1) open an SCU chequing or savings account or accounts; (2) fund at least $100, in aggregate, in all of their SCU accounts; and (3) at all times maintain their SCU accounts in good standing (and without limiting the foregoing, not be in a position of delinquent status or unauthorized overdraft, in any SCU account);

      3. If more than one Member submits a Referral in respect of the same New Member, only the first valid Referral received and recorded by SCU shall be eligible for a Reward. Any subsequent Referral submitted in respect of the same New Member shall not be eligible for a Reward, regardless of whether the New Member ultimately becomes a member of SCU. For greater certainty, where there is any dispute regarding the timing, validity or eligibility of a Referral, SCU's determination shall be final and binding on all Members; and

   7. when a successful Referral has triggered a Reward, and provided that, at the time of payment of the Reward, the Member’s account(s) with SCU remains open and in good standing (and without limiting the foregoing, not be in a position of delinquent status or unauthorized overdraft, in any of the Member’s SCU accounts), SCU will pay the Reward for the Referral into an SCU account held by the Member (as determined by SCU, in its sole discretion) within sixty (60) days of the satisfaction of all conditions necessary to trigger the Reward. Referrals made by Members who hold a joint account will be paid to the Member who made the Referral, only, and not other joint account holders. Referrals which result in the opening of a joint account entitle the Member who made the Referral to one Reward, only.

6. At limited times during the Referral Period, SCU may make available to New Members an additional reward of $50 cash (the “Additional Reward”). Terms and conditions applicable to the Additional Reward include the following:

   1. the Additional Reward will be available to people who become New Members pursuant to the process set out in these Terms and Conditions, within a limited time period or periods during the Referral Period (as determined by SCU in its sole discretion), which, if applicable, will be communicated by SCU to New Members either on its website or in correspondence sent to New Members as part of the Referral process;

   2. limit one (1) Additional Reward per New Member; and

   3. all other provisions of these Terms and Conditions which are applicable to eligibility for, and payment of, a Reward, to the Member, shall apply, mutatis mutandis, to the New Member. SCU may, at its discretion, make the Additional Reward subject to additional terms and conditions, which shall be communicated to New Members in the manner set out above in this Section 6.

Limitations and Exclusions

7. Members may submit multiple Referrals. The maximum value of all Rewards to be paid by SCU to a Member during the Referral Period shall be $500.

8. The Member represents and warrants to SCU that:

   1. before submitting the Referral, the Member obtained the express, informed and meaningful consent of each referred individual to: disclose that individual’s personal information including, their name, contact details and any other information disclosed by the Member to SCU for the purposes of administering this Promotion; contacting the referred individual; and for any other purposes disclosed to the referred individual at the time consent was obtained;

   2. such consent was obtained in a manner compliant with all applicable privacy laws, including, without limitation, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada) and applicable provincial legislation and regulations, as may be amended from time to time;

   3. the Member has provided each referred individual with all notices required by applicable privacy laws, including the identity of SCU, the purposes of disclosure and how to contact SCU to access or correct personal information;

   4. all referrals, communications and disclosures made by the Member in connection with the Promotion comply with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (S.C. 2010, c.23) and all related regulations and guidance in force from time to time, including requirements relating to consent, content and unsubscribe mechanisms, to the extent applicable to the Member’s activities. Without limiting the foregoing, the Member represents that for each Referral, it has one or more of (1) an “existing business relationship”; (2) an “existing non-business relationship”; or (3) a “personal relationship or a family relationship” (as those terms are defined in Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation) with the New Member; and

   5. the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by the Member in connection with the Promotion complies with all applicable privacy laws, including, without limitation, those identified in this Section 8.

9. The Member acknowledges that the Member conducts all referral activities independently and not as an agent of SCU, and that the Member is responsible for ensuring compliance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation and all applicable privacy laws in connection with such activities.

10. The Reward is intended for promotional purposes only and does not constitute financial, tax, accounting or legal advice or an opinion related to the acquisition, suitability or use of any account. The Member acknowledges and agrees that SCU is not providing any financial, tax, accounting or legal advice or information on the potential consequences to the Member as a result of the Member’s participation in this Promotion. Members should obtain their own professional advice, as needed. For greater certainty, SCU is not responsible for any financial, tax, accounting or legal advice to the Member or potential financial, tax, accounting or legal consequences to the Member as a result of participation in the Promotion and / or receipt of the Reward.

11. The Reward is non-transferable, and non-saleable. The Reward may not be combined with any other offer or promotion offered by SCU.

12. Referrals that are late, lost, illegible, inaccurate or incomplete are void. Proof of submission does not constitute proof of receipt. SCU is not responsible for technical failures or other issues that may prevent a Member’s participation in the Promotion.

13. SCU reserves the right to conduct such investigations (and to collect, use and disclose personal information pursuant thereto) for the purposes of confirming the completeness, truth or accuracy of any information provided by the Member as part of the Promotion, and the Member agrees to provide such further information and do such things as may be required by SCU, for those purposes.

14. SCU reserves the right at its absolute discretion to suspend the Promotion or to change any of these Terms and Conditions from time to time without prior notice. In the event of conflict, these Terms and Conditions will prevail over any account agreement with SCU and any of the contents of any brochure, promotional materials or statements, or any other communication regarding this Promotion, whether written or oral from SCU, except where otherwise stated.

15. By participating in this Promotion, Members agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Any attempt to manipulate or exploit the Promotion or any noncompliance with these Terms and Conditions, as deemed by SCU in its sole discretion, is subject to disqualification.

16. The Member will not engage, either directly or indirectly, for themselves or through or on behalf of or in conjunction with any other person or entity, in any behaviour which could be deemed, by SCU in its sole discretion, to be offside of the intention of this Promotion.

17. SCU reserves the right, at its sole discretion, without advance notice, to suspend, disqualify, limit, revoke, terminate or otherwise modify this Promotion, in whole or in part, for: (i) any Member it finds or believes to be manipulating or otherwise abusing the integrity of this Promotion or who otherwise is deemed ineligible; and (ii) any reason or if the Promotion cannot run as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond SCU’s reasonable control which corrupt or affect the administration, security or proper conduct of this Promotion, including limits or restrictions arising under any applicable laws.

18. The Member acknowledges and agrees that SCU: (i) shall not provide any tax advice to the Member in connection with this Promotion; and (ii) is not providing any kind of representation to the Member as to the tax treatment of the Reward. The Member must engage their own professional advisors if they have any questions related to the taxation of the Reward.

19. By participating in this Promotion, the Member agrees that they have read and understood these Terms and Conditions and agree to be bound by them. Any notice to be given with respect to this Promotion is deemed to be provided on the day it is posted on the SCU website.

20. SCU is not liable for any loss or damage related to this Promotion, including, but not limited to, direct, indirect or consequential damages. By participating in this Promotion, the Member agrees to irrevocably and unconditionally release, discharge and forever hold harmless SCU, its directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, affiliates, successor and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims or liabilities (collectively, “Claims”), whether known or unknown, and regardless of the form of cause of action (including in tort, contract, indemnification, fundamental breach, gross negligence or otherwise) and even if such damages are foreseeable or if the party knew or should have known the possibility of such damages, which the Member, directly or indirectly, now has or may hereafter have, arising out of or in connection with this Promotion, or any associated transaction, service or product provided by SCU.

21. By participating in this Promotion, the Member agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties to the fullest extent permitted by law, and from any and all losses arising out of: (i) any breach by SCU of its obligations pursuant to this Promotion, including, without limitation, claims made by third parties; and (ii) any of the Released Parties’ negligence or willfully wrongful, wanton or reckless condition or omissions. This indemnity shall survive the termination, completion or expiry of this Promotion.

22. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Terms and Conditions shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. If any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Terms and Conditions shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein.

23. These Terms and Conditions and the agreements referenced herein contain the entire understanding of the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof, and supersede all prior and contemporaneous written or oral understandings, agreements, representations and warranties with respect to such subject matter. The parties may not amend these Terms and Conditions except by written instrument signed by the parties. In particular, SCU employees or other representatives are not authorized to waive, modify or amend any provision or provisions of these Terms and Conditions in any manner whatsoever other than as is specifically contemplated herein.

24. Certain personal information, including names, addresses and phone numbers collected from Members and New Members, will be used by SCU for the purpose of administering this Promotion. SCU will manage such personal information in accordance with SCU’s privacy code, which can be found at https://www.scu.mb.ca/online-banking-security/privacy-policies, or as permitted or required by law.

25. All references to dollars ($) herein are references to Canadian Dollars (CAD).

26. These Terms and Conditions, and all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Terms and Conditions, or the rights and obligations of all Members and SCU in connection with the Promotion, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Manitoba and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without giving effect to any choice or conflict of law rule that would result in the application of the laws of any other jurisdiction. The parties irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Manitoba for any action, suit, or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms and Conditions and irrevocably waive any objection to venue or inconvenient forum in such courts. Each Member agrees to waive any right they may have to: (i) a trial by jury; and (ii) commence or participate in any class action against SCU related to the Promotion or these Terms and Conditions and, where, applicable, the Member also agrees to opt out of any class proceedings against SCU.
