The more friends you refer, the more you can earn—up to $500 each year.
1. Get your unique referral code
Every SCU member receives a unique referral code to use when referring new members. Register for the Member Referral Program to receive your unique referral code by email.
2. Submit your referrals online
Use your unique referral code to submit referrals through our online Member Referral page.
3. Earn $50 for every successful referral
When your friends or family members become new SCU members and meet the referral criteria, you’ll receive a $50 cash reward.
You can earn up to $500 per calendar year, with a maximum of 10 successful referrals.
Eligibility
What counts as a successful referral?
To be eligible for the $50 cash reward, your referral needs to meet the following requirements:
- The person you refer is new to SCU and has not previously been an SCU member
- The person you refer becomes an SCU member, meets eligibility requirements, and funds the required $5 member share
- Within 60 days of becoming a member, they:
- Open an SCU chequing or savings account
- Fund their account(s) with at least $100 in total
- Maintain account(s) in good standing at the time of payout
Once all referral conditions are met, your $50 cash reward will be deposited into your account within two months.

Can I refer multiple people?
Yes. You can submit multiple referrals and earn $50 for each successful referral, up to 10 successful referrals or $500 per calendar year.
When will I receive my $50 cash reward?
Once your referred friend or family member has joined SCU and met the program requirements, your $50 cash reward will be deposited into your account within two months.
What information do I need to submit a referral?
You’ll need the referred person’s name and contact information. Please make sure you have their permission before sharing their information with SCU.
What personal information is shared during the referral process?
Protecting member privacy and confidentiality is important to SCU. The person you refer will only see your name and the message you choose to include.
Can I share my referral code directly with the person I want to refer?
No. Referrals must be submitted through SCU’s online referral form to be tracked. Referrals shared outside the online form will not qualify for a reward.
Can I check the status of my referral?
For privacy reasons, we cannot provide ongoing status updates on a referral. You’ll receive an email once your referral has been confirmed as successful.
What happens if the person I refer closes their account before the reward is paid?
The new member’s account must be in good standing at the time of payout for the referral to qualify.
What happens if two members refer the same person?
If the same person is referred by more than one member, the reward will go to the member whose referral was submitted first, provided all the program requirements are met.
What if I lose my referral code?
You can complete the registration form again to retrieve your unique referral code.
